Save the whales!

Whales are one of the most incredible and majestic creatures on Earth, but unfortunately they are in danger of extinction due to hunting whales for money. Due to hunting, their population has been reduced alarmingly. A few decades ago 2,000 blue whales were killed in just one year.

Why is it important to take care of whales? Scientists say that when whales feed at great depths and return to the surface to breathe, they alter the water column, allowing nutrients and organisms to expand.

In addition to expanding nutrients and organisms, they are living beings that feel and have the right to live and not be attacked by industries.

The aspects that are a threat to the survival of the whales are:

The hunt

In some countries, whaling is still carried out with the aim of achieving:

  • Its oil (for industrial use, lighting and food).

  • Spermaceti (used for cosmetics, lipsticks and grease pencils).

  • Ambergris (used for perfume fixatives).

  • Endocrine glands and liver (pharmaceuticals, hormones, vitamin A),

  • Meat

We must act and stop whaling

because whales are not objects for industry.

Ocean pollution

The pollution of the oceans is a great environmental impact in a negative way that not only affects us, but also the marine species that inhabit and depend on it.

Approximately 10% of the plastic pollution in the world's oceans is made up of fishing lines and nets made from plastic. Every year 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises accidentally become entangled in nets and die slowly and painfully from suffocation, starvation or exhaustion.

The captivity of whales for entertainment

Whales (usually the orca) that are in captivity cannot satisfy their natural needs, they cannot swim long enough and be free as they are in the ocean, they do not hunt their food on their own which means that they will not be able to survive if they return. to be free.

Ways to protect whales

Inform yourself

Knowing how you are doing right now is a way to find out what is happening with the whales and find ways to help.

Adopt a whale

By adopting a whale you give it another chance to be cared for by whale experts while they are in their natural habitat. That's why the Whale Conservation Institute organization takes care of that, conserves the whales and the oceans through research and education.

Just like WWF protects whales and you can also adopt a whale and save it from extinction.

Volunteer

If you are in a place where whales are found and you have the opportunity to help, take the opportunity and volunteer. Get involved in causes that interest you.

Carry the message

Tell your family, friends, close people about what is happening with the whales and that if we do not act now tomorrow it will be too late, encourage them to help and make a difference.

Do not support the exploitation of these animals

By supporting places where they are exploited and kept in poor condition, they continue to keep whales in captivity and avoid their freedom in the ocean. It is important to understand that a captive whale will not be able to satisfy its needs in a place that is not its habitat.

Sign petitions

Your voice and your signature are a very powerful tool to be able to save the whales since it helps to ask that they help, that they act and the approval of laws for the prohibition of whaling.
