Save the Arctic!

The polar ice caps are melting as global warming is causing climate change. Arctic sea ice is being lost at a rate of nearly 13% every decade and, in the past 30 years, the oldest and thickest ice in the Arctic has decreased by an impressive 95%.

What is the problem?

Human activities are the main causes of the melting of glaciers, which has caused an increase in the earth's temperature.

Scientists estimate that if emissions continue to rise uncontrollably, the Arctic could be left ice-free during summers, beginning in 2040, as ocean and air temperatures continue to rise rapidly.

Consequences

  • It would cause the sea level to rise.

  • The surface of the Earth would reflect less energy from the sun, causing increased global warming.

  • The disappearance of cities and coasts.

  • Serious alteration of the balance of ecosystems.

  • Reappearance of diseases.

  • Changes in the flow of water and the weather.

  • Migratory flows.
